From Horse Track to Single Track: A Brief History on Harry Moss

by Cody Lloyd

Among Dallas’ concrete and asphalt borders, deep within the jungle of an urban sprawl, sits a patch of land. This land fights off development, and remains scrappy in a mashup of suburban living, a medical center, and a country club. The threshold to the land is defined by a parking lot of a liquor store. The drone of vehicle tires on the freeway, along with the occasional siren, or loud car exhaust, are the soundtrack of the park. A trail that that runs through the land will never win any awards for being the most beautiful in Dallas-Fort Worth. The trail doesn’t stand out as a place for developing off-road bike technical prowess, and naysayers are quick to write it off, when compared to the likes of Big Cedar or Northshore.
