You will need to have your own work gloves, for this activity, hand clippers are ideal, so please bring some along marked with your name. Bring bug spray, sunscreen, and water. Protective eye wear and sound protection is recommended if you plan to be cutting branches or operating some of the cutting tools. Erwin Park experienced a beautiful blooming Spring and Summer and many plants have gone to seed. The McKinney Parks Foundation and Erwin Park MTB plan to come together with the help of dedicated Texas Master Naturalists to remove plant dead heads and invasive plants. Prior training is not needed as we will be teaching the difference and needs of both native and invasive plants the day of. Any needed trail work will be a possible volunteer activity as well.
Please arrive about 10 minutes early for a safety orientation, waiver sign in, and team assignments.
Volunteers can earn service hours for their school group, troop, or club. See a member of the McKinney Parks Foundation to have your volunteer forms signed at the event.
